The Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT) and the Office of Law Enforcement Training (OLET) are pleased to be offering a wide variety of training opportunities available to any peace officer in the State of Texas, as well as to un-sworn personnel who may benefit from the training. However, please note that some courses are restricted to sworn peace officers at the local, state, or federal level; please click on the course on our main page to see if any courses have restrictions.

Our goal is to serve peace officers of the State of Texas by providing training in specific areas of law enforcement in order to further professional development, as well as to better educate and train officers in the field. The courses will offer training in leadership, management, and other professional skills as well as training in specialized areas of criminal justice and law enforcement.

TCLEOSE credit will be submitted for peace officers after each course is complete. Certificates of training are also given to each attendee after course completion.

The courses will primarily be held either at the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas on the campus of Sam Houston State University or the LEMIT annex/OLET building on 912 15th Street (across the street from the LEMIT building) in Huntsville, Texas. However, if you are interested in having OLET training and instruction come to your agency or area, please contact us so we may go over the details and logistics.**Please note that there are certain conditions that must be met for out-of-town training.

OLET is not state funded so there is usually a charge for training. Each course will have a different fee, dependent on instructor cost. OLET is willing to work with your agency on forms of payment and times of payment; if you have any concerns or questions, please contact us. Please note that there are certain occasions and courses that OLET can and will offer free of charge.

Lodging, travel, and all meals are strictly at your own expense. OLET will provide classroom materials and complimentary snacks and beverages.
