Visit by Polish National Police Delegation to LEMIT (June 7 - 19, 2008)

The Polish Delegation included: Mr. Mariusz Dabek, Mr. Janusz Grelak, Mrs. Irmina Adamska, Mr. Andrezej Urban, Mr. Marian Szlinger, Mr. Jacek Mazur, Mr. Jaroslaw Kononczuk, Mr. Dariusz Augustyniak, Mr. Jakub Gorczynski, Mr. Robert Sielski, Mr. Janusz Nabialek


Visit by Inspector Sangho Chae of Korean National Police (August 2007 – February 2008)

Inspector Sangho Chae arrived at LEMIT in August of 2007 and completed a program of professional development over the course of six months. Having completed his Bachelors in Administration Science from Korea National Police University in 2001, Mr. Chae had received numerous awards and honors in recognition of his management and police work. His tenacity for knowledge in the field and his contributions in the classroom during his stay in Texas make him an asset to both his profession and our program.


Visit by Korean Delegates (October 21-24, 2007)

18 Korean Superintendents of Police (Sang-Yung Park, Kyung-Ryul Hur, Dong-Hae Choi, Seung-Gyu Yang, Byeong-Goog Oh, Kap-Hyung Lee, Sang-Woon Kim, Soon-Sang Baek, Jea-Sook Han, Dong-Young Kim, Seong-Mo Hwang, Young-IL Kim, Byung-Yong Jun, Jae-Seok Kim, Jang-Ho Seo, and Jae-Nam Ryu) who are attending a six month Strategic Command Course at the Korea National Police University have taken the opportunity to visit the United States to review policing practices. While at LEMIT the superintendents attended a series of lectures by Sam Houston State University professors and visited the Montgomery Sheriff’s Office and College Station Police Department. The delegation included officials from the Korea National Police University, Vice President Jin-Hyun, Chief of Academic Affairs Division, Sung-Tae Yoon, Professor Chang-Won Pyo, and Police Inspectors Byung-Ryong Kang and Hyun-Jin Cho.


Visit by Botswanian Delegates (October 9, 2007)

On Tuesday, October 9th, Botswanian delegates, Commisioner Tsimako, James Duha, Managing Director of the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA), and Solomon Mantswe, the Senior Superintendent of ILEA visited LEMIT and spoke with Dr. Rita Watkins and Carolyn Martinez. Graduate student and Botswanian official Victor Ghani was also present at the meeting.

Visit by Italian & Swiss Delegates (September 2007)

Delegates attended various lectures at the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas and visited police departments in central and southern Texas.


Visit by Polish Delegates (June 16-27, 2007)

Andrzej Machnacz, Director; Krzysztof Choinski, Deputy Director; Marcin Flieger, Deputy Director; Dariusz Jankowski, Director; Jacek Tomaszewski, Cabinet of the Commander-in-Chief. Delegates attended various lectures at the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas and visited police departments in areas surrounding Huntsville, Texas.


Visit by Polish Delegates (May 19-30, 2007)

Col. Michal Czeszejko, Col. Marek Dzialoszynski, Col. Marek Purzycki, and Capt. Danuta Wolk of the Polish National Police visited LEMIT. They were escorted by Capt. Rafal Wasiak, who holds a Master's degree from SHSU's College of Criminal Justice. The Polish delegation attended numerous training seminars and intelligence briefs at LEMIT.


Visit by Canadian Delegate (May 25, 2007)

Staff Sergeant Catherine Light of the Calgary Police Service's Criminal Intelligence Unit visited to learn about LEMIT's advanced training and education programs. SSgt. Light also was briefed at the Institute for the Study of Violent Groups (ISVG) during her tour as a participant with the U.S. State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program.

Visit from Mr. Krzysztof Liedel (November 30, 2006)

On November 30, 2006, Mr. Krzysztof Liedel, Head, Terrorism Unit, Ministry of Interior, Poland, visited LEMIT. Mr. Liedel meet with Dr. Rita Watkins, David Webb, Carolyn Martinez and also in attendance was Mr. Jan Zawitkowski, from the FBI - Houston.


Chinese Delegation (October 29-31, 2006)

On October 29, 30 and 31st, Guoliang Fu, Daren, Zhang, Yun Huang, and Zhongping Lou visited with LEMIT and SHSU staff.


Visit from the Deputy Commisoner of Trinidad and Tobago Police

Owsyn Allard, Deputy Commissioner of the Trinidad and Tobago Police visited with LEMIT staff on October 17, 2006.

Visit by Superintendent of Police Investigations from Islamabad, Pakistan

Mr. Ashfaq Kahn, Superintendent of Police Investigations, Islamabad Capital Territory Police, Islamabd, Pakistan visited LEMIT on October 2, 2006. Mr. Kahn consulted with LEMIT Assistant Director, David Webb, and program coordinators Carolyn Martinez and Cary Young. Also present were David Collins of the Huntsville Police Department, Victor Ghanie, Assistant Superintedent of the Botswana National Police, and Aziz Ozmen of the Turkish National Police.


Visit by Bolivian Dignitary

Mr. Guillermo Canedo Patino, former Vice Minister of Social Control under President Banzar of Bolivia visited LEMIT in November 2005.  The purpose of Mr. Canedo's visit was to discuss training opportunities for Bolivian police officers at LEMIT.    Mr. Canedo met with Dr. Rita Watkins, David Webb and Carolyn Martinez.  While here, a luncheon was given in his honor, which was attended by several visiting foreign police officers to the CJ Center  from Botswana, Korea, Thailand and Turkey.  Also, attending the luncheon were university officials, Dr. Richard Eglsaer, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dr. Mitchell Muehsam, Dean of Graduate Studies.  Dr. Al Policarpo, a former police officer from Peru and current faculty member in the Spanish Department, was also present.
