The Leadership Command College sets the standard for excellence in police leadership and executive development training. Not only is the LCC program itself rigorous, the application process to qualify for admission into the program is demanding. The overview course known as the Applicant Evaluation and Initial Orientation Unit (AEIOU) precedes acceptance in the LCC program and is actually a part of the admission application process.
Applicants interested in attending the Leadership Command College must first attend one of the scheduled overview sessions. The overview is scheduled over a three-day block, from Wednesday through Friday, and is held at the LEMIT building in Huntsville . During that time participants will be provided with detailed information regarding the three modules that comprise the LCC program and will be exposed to information and training that will allow them to better assess if the LCC experience is right for them. Applicants will be exposed to lecture materials and assignments that are equivalent to the level of rigor and performance expected from the participants during the LCC modules. Additionally, all applicants are required to complete a multi-phase written examination process to assess their academic readiness to participate in the LCC.
The inclusion of the overview process is nothing new. In fact, when LEMIT first began what is now the LCC program, a week-long overview was required before individuals could participate in the actual modules. The revised AEIUO has been very well received and the evaluations have been outstanding. It is really a great opportunity to determine if the subject matter in the Command College will meet your individual and professional development needs and to demonstrate your commitment to this educational process.
