LCC Module III

Module III is conducted on the campus of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

Sam Houston State University annually enrolls approximately 13,000 students drawn from diverse academic backgrounds and experiences. Graduate students come from all parts of the United States and a number of foreign countries. The 211-acre campus is located in Huntsville, a picturesque community of 30,000 residents. The university and the community are ideal for students interested in justice studies and for professionals returning for continuing education.

Established in 1965, SHSU's Criminal Justice Center has evolved into the largest criminal justice education and training program in the English-speaking world. This level of experience comes from the skills and dedication of its faculty and staff, and also the unprecedented support received from the Texas Legislature, the criminal justice community, private philanthropy and grants from the federal government. The university's Criminal Justice Center houses the College of Criminal Justice and the Institute of Criminal Justice. The College offers both baccalaureate and master's degrees in criminal justice and is one of 20 institutions in the United States that offers the Ph.D. in criminal justice.

The Institute administers an extensive continuing education and training program to meet the needs of the criminal justice community. The Institute includes the state's first Probation Training Academy, a Correctional Training Academy and is the site of the College for New Judges as well as the certification program of the Texas Association for Court Administrators.

The Center contains a courtroom, auditorium, dining facility, classrooms, seminar rooms, computer terminals, and offices for faculty members and graduate assistants. A 98-room hotel provides accommodations for visiting faculty, participants of both workshops and seminars.
