Topics Covered / Course Objectives

  • Assists officers and agencies on the use and evaluation of body worn camera systems
  • Provides guideline on when an officer should or should not use the camera based on privacy concerns
  • Develops provisions on the creation, retention and deletion of video and audio recording
  • Offers guidelines for public access or officer or agency review of the recording
  • Creates documentation for malfunctions of the equipment
  • Understands that officers are not required to keep cameras activated during the entire shift
  • Aligns policies with federal and Texas rules of evidence

  • This program is available to all law enforcement officers.

Course Length

Body Worn Cameras is a two-hour course.

Course Hours

Participants receive 2 hours of TCOLE credit.
