Texas Major Cities Police Chief Leadership Series (TMCPCLS)

The Texas Major Cities Police Chief Leadership Series is available to Police Chiefs from the 30 largest cities in Texas. The program focuses on issues and strategies for urban environments in Texas and is designed to address policy and program development rather than personal development. The program features national and international experts in the field and emphasizes the exchange of information and experiences among participants. The session is offered in two, 20-hour sessions each spring: April 4-6, 2018 and 2019 date to be announced.

  • The Police Chief from the following agencies: Abilene, Amarillo, Arlington, Austin, Beaumont, Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Carrollton, Dallas, Denton, El Paso, Fort Worth, Frisco, Garland, Grand Prairie, Houston, Irving, Killeen, Laredo, Lubbock, McAllen, McKinney, Mesquite, Midland, Odessa, Pasadena, Plano, Round Rock, San Antonio, Waco.

Course Length

Texas Major Cities Police Chief Leadership Series (TMCPCLS) is a six-day course, held in two, three-day sessions over two years.

Course Hours

Participants receive 40 hours of TCOLE 3740 credit upon completion of 2018 and 2019 sessions.

Course Cost / Fee Policy

Texas Major Cities Police Chief Leadership Series (TMCPCLS) is offered at no charge for all eligible Texas Law Enforcement Officers.

Registration is 100% online. Please visit the Register Online link located on the Upcoming Events table below or the LEMIT Calendar page to register. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address indicated on the form within one week of registration.

Cancellation / No-Show Policy

If no notice of cancellation is received by the Program Coordinator prior to the date of the program, and the participant does not attend the program, the participant or their agency will be required to pay a $100 'NO-SHOW' fee.

Additional Information

Hotel, Travel, and Meals:
The participant or their agency is responsible for expenses incurred for travel to and from the training, hotel cost, and meals excluding lunch on Thursday. Hotel information will be included in the confirmation email. Choosing a hotel and making a reservation is the responsibility of each participant.

Schedule for the Week:
Class begins at 1:00 p.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at noon on Friday. The program involves a working lunch on Thursday (lunch is provided).

Dress for the Week:
Business casual is the dress for the week. Clothing should be professional, and no caps/hats or shorts are permitted. It is always recommended to bring a light jacket in case the training room is cold.
