Constant changes in legislation and case law related to federal civil rights laws as well as federal and state criminal statutes can impact every action and decision made by police administrators. Administrators must also be aware of pending legal and legislative issues. This course covers the cases and changes to criminal law in Texas as decided by the 85th session of the Texas Legislature.

Topics Covered / Course Objectives

  • Be knowledgeable of current state and federal statutes as they relate to law enforcement and management,
  • Understand recent legal decisions concerning law enforcement, and
  • Be aware of future trends of state and federal legislation.

Who Should Attend / Admission Requirements

  • This program is available to any individual who is interested in the most recent changes in criminal law from the 85th session of the Texas Legislature.

Course Length

Legislative Update is a three-hour course.

Course Hours

Participants receive 3 hours of TCOLE (3185) credit.
