The Body Worn Camera Course is designed to help law enforcement officers and agencies effectively implement, operate, and evaluate body-worn camera (BWC) systems in alignment with state and federal standards. As more agencies adopt these devices to enhance transparency and reduce allegations of misconduct, this course—available online 24/7 through the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas—provides essential guidance on policy development, operational procedures, and legal considerations. Participants learn when and how cameras should be used, how to manage privacy concerns, and the proper creation, retention, and deletion of recordings. The curriculum also addresses public access requests, equipment malfunction documentation, and ensures policies are consistent with Texas and federal rules of evidence. Open to all law enforcement officers, the program equips participants with the knowledge to integrate body-worn cameras responsibly and effectively within their agencies.
